Dear IDS members,
I apologize for the long period of silence since our last and very successful IDS meeting in Korea, but our IDS Council has nevertheless been quite busy in the interim. I would like to update you on the latest and exciting new developments for IDS as follows.
First, we have successfully identified an outstanding location for our next IDS meeting to be held in the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island from June 15 - 19 2012 just prior to the FOCIS meeting in Vancouver. We owe a special thanks to the enthusiasm, time and effort expended by Bruce Verchere, Chair, and his Local Organizing Committee (Rusung Tan, Peter van den Elden) for assuming this important responsibility. Please stay tuned during the next few months for forthcoming information on registration, abstract submission and logistics.
Second, our T-cell workshop committee has been busy in defining a brand new program for validating the assessment of islet-reactive CD8 T cell responses on frozen PBMC samples. Please contact us, if you have experience in this arena and would like more information and possibly participate.
As many of you know, I am very enthusiastic about IDS and will do my best together with the IDS Council to maintain the high level of success that it has previously achieved.Best Regards
